On December 25, the new terminal of Novy Urengoy Airport (part of the Airports of Regions Management Company) received the first flight from Salekhard. The launch of the terminal into test operation was attended by the Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District Dmitry Artyukhov, Deputy Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Vladimir Poteshkin, General Director of the Airports of Regions management company Evgeny Chudnovsky and project Manager of the general contractor of the LMS Group of Companies Mehmet Bahar.
Dmitry Artyukhov thanked the large team that worked on the construction and launch of the airport. At the solemn event, the guests were given souvenirs dedicated to the opening of the new aviterminal — commemorative coins.
«Five years ago we came up with this project and it seemed impossible to many, there was a lot of skepticism. But everything worked out for us – we now have not only a unique new terminal, but also the entire renovated airport complex. I am very pleased with what I saw today, but the Yamal residents will give the main assessment tomorrow,» Dmitry Artyukhov said.
As Yevgeny Chudnovsky noted, the airport modernization project was quite complex: «This is the first airport infrastructure modernization project in Russia implemented under a concession agreement. For the first time in this climatic zone, teletraps have been installed and will be used. And, of course, the unique architecture embodies the idea of warmth and comfort, which are so often lacking in the harsh conditions of Yamal.»
The new terminal of Novy Urengoy Airport has become the largest air harbor in Yamal. The capacity of the terminal is 840 passengers per hour. The terminal is equipped with 12 check-in counters and 5 boarding gates. You can now get on board the plane via a teletrap, and boarding apron buses is carried out not on the street, but in a warm bass gate.
Inside the terminal, everything is done for a comfortable stay of passengers: cafes, shops are open, there is a mother and child room and a children's playground in the departure hall. The terminal has 11 elevators, including for passengers with limited mobility, and 4 escalators.
The appearance of the terminal resembles the traditional dwelling of the indigenous peoples of the north – chum. Inside there is a permanent exhibition dedicated to Yamal as a place of unique nature, resources and history. One of the installations is «Gems of Yamal»: four special pentagonal zones in the floor are lined with semi–precious and ornamental stones mined in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District.
Confirming its reputation as a reliable general contractor, LMS Group fulfills its obligations to the customers, who entrust us with the implementation of their projects again.
